How far you have come is less important than how far you can go.

Here are three tips to keep yourself focused on the road ahead.

1. Be Positive: The people who work at my company know they will get in trouble if they are ever negative around me. That doesn’t mean I don’t want information that may be negative. But negative sayings like, “We can’t do this,” or, “That’s impossible,” is not allowed at my business or in my home. My companies all have a “no negativity” policy because that kind of thinking does nothing to help people and get them ready to find solutions.

2. Get Around Positive People: It’s necessary that you stay positive, but it’s also important that you surround yourself with those who are likeminded. Perhaps you join organizations or clubs where you are all doing something you’re pumped up about. Get your family on the same page with you when it comes to the atmosphere of your home. If your spouse, children, siblings, and parents celebrate the positive things with you, it will go a long way toward keeping you on track. Share your long-term goals with them and ask for their help to keep you focused on them.

3. Write Down Your Goals: Make a list of all your goals when you get up in the morning and again before you go down for the night. This will get you staying focused on what you want and why you want it. I’m not referring to your to-do list; I mean the giant goals in life you are eager to dream about: why you are going to work and what you are trying to do. Focusing on these major goals will renew your energy.
