The results are in. 43% of smart speaker owners would be interested in using skills from companies or brands they follow on social media (NPR. 2018).  Remember that the voice command skills are not limited to devices. This can also be accessed from your phone, computer, car, or website, and the access is increasing. This result comes from the 16% of Americans 18 years of age and up that own a smart speaker. 11% of those own Alexa products. That equates to 39 million people. In a 1,816 person survey conducted Nov of 2017, 65% of those owning a smart speaker say that they wouldn’t want to go back to life without their smart speaker. When asked in what ways their smart speaker is replacing other devices, 39% reported radio, 34% reported smart phone, and 26% reported computer.

IN SKILL PURCHASES ARE ON THE RISE.

Based on the 1,816 person survey.31% of smart speaker users added an item to their cart to purchase through the speaker. 23% researched items, and 22% purchased items previously not purchased through the device. In skill purchases are easy for the customer. They give a voice command to make the purchase and it links directly to their payment account. Adding in subscriptions and one time purchases to your skill is an effective way to get your products and content to customers.
