So often we hear: “accept yourself the way you are.” While I think that on many levels this is a positive position, from a health perspective, modern medicine allows us to objectify body composition, which correlates with susceptibility to disease. If we consider the acceptance position from this perspective it could be argued that appearance (in particular related to obesity) does indeed matter when considering it from the perspective of your current and future health. Food for thought – where is the right balance for health, success and happiness?
